The World of Retirement Planning
At Chartwell, we believe retirement should be the most exciting time of your life; and we understand you’ve worked hard to get to this stage of your journey. We also understand that planning for retirement can be intimidating, and when it comes to financial decisions, confusing. That’s why we take the time to understand your specific situation, and strive to help you visualize your goals.
We understand the complex world of retirement planning and its peculiar language: Rollover IRA’s, RMD’s, 401k’s, etc., and yes, we’ll explain how these and other concepts, laws and products may help you reach your specific retirement aims. But not before we understand YOU!
Remember, before recommending or discussing any investment or retirement solution, we’ll make sure we know we’re you’ve been, where you want to go and what kind of legacy you’d like to leave behind. Then, we’ll help you visualize what that might look like, by discussing time-honored solutions and strategies that address your specific goals. We’ll explain how they work, what kind of fees are involved, and, of course, what risks might be associated with them. In short, we don’t believe in “one size fits all” solutions. We think you’ll enjoy our conversational, collaborative approach toward financial planning. We’ve learned by treating people as individuals, we‘ve been blessed to help the many with their retirement planning.
So, for now, forget all the investment-speak and retirement jargon and let’s start by having a conversation!
Lifetime Income Need
Ready for some good news? Generally speaking, we’re all living longer! Of course, that means making sure you don’t outlive the resources you’ve set aside for retirement. And you’re not alone. Today, some 60 million Baby Boomers are facing retirement and share the same concerns you do. Fortunately, the financial services industry has developed a host of products and services to address the long term needs of retirees – including providing income for life. Much of what we do at Chartwell is taking the time to understand your situation and then finding the products and services that will address your goals, concerns and expectations. Remember, we want you to thrive during retirement!
Two Numbers to Remember in Retirement
With regard to your qualified retirement accounts, we’ve found it’s helpful to remember the following important numbers: You can take penalty-free withdrawals from your qualified retirement accounts beginning at age 59 1/2; and, under most circumstances, you MUST start taking withdrawals (called “Required Minimum Distributions”) from these accounts at age 70 1/2. (Roth IRA’s are an exception to this rule)
Use these numbers help set the “goalposts” of your retirement income planning!
Group retirement and savings plans
For business owners, group retirement and savings plans can play a key role in attracting and retaining quality employees.
Just like you, your dedicated employees are working towards a safe, secure future. Either provided independently or paired with group benefits, a group savings plan is a convenient, flexible and affordable way to help your employees reach their long-term financial goals.
Employees gain instant tax savings for their Group RRSP contributions, since they are made using pre-tax payroll deductions. They also receive the peace of mind that comes from knowing every month they are building towards retirement.
We I can help you and your valued employees choose group retirement and savings products. We will design an investment plan tailored to fit the needs of everyone involved. Choose from products like:
